PCG, rescue teams, hindi pa rin makadikit sa MV June Aster dahil sa usok na lumalabas dito at maging ang malakas na hangin sa lugar

Hindi pa rin umano basta-basta makalapit ang mga tauhan ng Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) at iba pang rescue units sa nasunog na pampasaherong barko na MV June Aster dahil sa malakas na hangin at hindi pa ito tuluyang naidedeklarang “fire out.”

Ayon kay PCG Spokesperson Commodore Noemie Cayabyab, hamon pa rin sa kanilang mga tauhan ang malakas na hangin sa lugar at ang usok sa barko, dahilan upang hindi makadikit at makapasok sa loob nito.

“Ang nakikita po nating challenges ngayon is malakas ang hangin. So, ‘yan po ang nagiging limitation po natin kahit ano pong extinguish natin kung may external factor na nagko-contribute para lumawak itong apoy [ay] ‘yan po ang nakikita natin until now,” saad ni Cayabyab sa isang live press conference ngayong araw, Setyembre 10.

Wala na rin umanong apoy sa loob ng barko at tanging usok na lamang ang lumalabas rito. Gayunpaman, hindi pa rin makalapit ang mga rescue units dahil sa posibleng panganib na dala nito.

“As per coordination po with our coast guard station commander in the area, wala na po tayong nakikitang apoy sa loob ng barko. Ang kino-consider na lang natin is ‘yung usok na lumalabas po,” saad pa niya.

Sakaling maideklarang “fire out” ay titiyakin pa rin anya ng mga rescue teams na ligtas itong pasukin bago magsagawa ng pagsusuri sa loob nito.

“Napakaimportante po na after ma-rule out na ‘fire out’ ito ay mago-onboard na po ang ating mga tauhan to check po ‘yung kabuuang [lagay] ng barko.”

“We really ensure po na safe po itong barko bago natin akyatin,” sagot pa ni Cayabyab sa tanong ng mga media.

Samantala, patuloy ang isinasagawang search and rescue operations ng mga awtoridad dahil mahigit 86 katao pa umano ang nawawala at patuloy na pinaghahanap.

Hindi rin isinasantabi ng PCG ang posibilidad na nakaligtas ang mga ito at napadpad sa ibang lugar o isla sa Coron.

Batay sa inisyal na impormasyong hawak ng PCG, may sakay na 117 pasahero at 17 tripulante ang MV June Aster na pagmamay-ari ng Atienza Interisland Ferries Inc., nang mangyari ang insidente.

Sa pinakahuling datos na ibinigay ng PCG, 43 katao na umano ang nailigtas at kasalukuyang nagpapagaling sa ilang pagamutan sa bayan ng Coron, Palawan, habang 5 naman sa mga pasahero ang naitalang nasawi.

Matatandaan na noong gabi ng Setyembre 9 ay ilang milya na lamang ang layo ng barko sa pantalan ng Coron, Palawan, nang magliyab ito at tupukin ang buong barko. Nanggaling pa umano sa pantalan ng Baseco, Manila, ang MV June Aster bago ang insidente.
