Coast Guard rescues 30 passengers in West Philippine Sea

Coast Guard rescued 30 passengers after Motor Launch Hadzraima went on distressed and drifted at vicinity waters off Royal Captain Shoal, West Philippine Sea last Friday, July 5.

Coast Guard District (CGD) Palawan received a call at 7:01 pm of July 5 from a certain Mr Rey Fernando, Radio Operator of Kalayaan, informing that M/L Hadzraima with 30 passengers onboard, all residents and employees of Municipality of Kalayaan, went on distressed and drifted at vicinity waters off West of Sicud, Rizal, Palawan and requesting for an immediate rescue.

Said motor launch departed Puerto Princesa City, Palawan on 04 July 2019 enroute to Pag-asa Island.

Commodore Allen T Toribio PCG, Commander of CGD Palawan, directed Barko Republika ng Pilipinas Sindangan (MRRV-4407) which was currently conducting Maritime Patrol at vicinity waters of Balabac, Palawan to conduct Search and Rescue Operations and render necessary assistance to the passengers and crew of the distressed motor launch.

BRP Sindangan immediately proceeded to the area and sighted M/L Hadzraima at vicinity off Royal Captain Shoal, West Philippine Sea. BRP Sindangan established radio contact to the distressed motor launch and rendered necessary assistance.

As of press time, the distressed M/L Hadzraima was already rescued and being towed by BRP Sindangan under the supervision of Commander Joselito Manluyo PCG, Commanding Officer of BRP Sindangan, from vicinity waters of Royal Captain Shoal, West Philippine Sea enroute to Buliluyan Island, Bataraza, Palawan and expected to arrive at 3:00 pm yesterday, July 6.
