Department of Education (DepEd) Palawan Schools Division Superintendent Roger F. Capa on Thursday, September 23, 2021, said that Palawan is not included in the pilot run implementation of face-to-face classes.

According to Capa, last year, they submitted a list of schools for a pilot run but were not approved by DepEd.

“Siguro kaya hindi nakapasa sa evaluation [ng DepEd] dahil kinonsider nila…kasi that time, noong May, noong nag-evaluate sila, mataas ang [COVID-19] case natin,” Capa said.

He added that they are still preparing the list of 181 schools in the province so that when the pilot run is successful, Palawan may be included in the expansion of face-to-face classes in other divisions.

Capa also clarified that face-to-face classes will be implemented only in schools with complete facilities and not on the basis of whether it is in a remote area and the case of COVID-19 is low.

“Dapat ang school ay mayroong hand washing facility, may clinic, malapit sa ospital. Ang mga classroom ay dapat malalaki at fully vaccinated ang mga teachers at marami pang requirements,” he added.
