Safety Seal-Certified establishments in San Vicente are now allowed to receive tourists for their accommodation based on Mayor Amy Alvarez’s decision even without a permit from the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA).
This is to support the tourism business establishments and their staffs to restore their livelihood due to the negative impact of COVID-19.
“I am going to bend for the other smaller enterprises here. The safety seal should be okay, ”Mayor Alvarez said.
The Safety Seal is awarded to a public or private establishment that complies with the minimum health standards implemented by the government to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
According to Alvarez, this is for the revitalization of the local tourism industry and the municipal economy.
“Kailangan na natin i-start ang ekonomiya rito and we are giving an opportunity naman. We are very stringent already but I suggest that as an LGU we lean already towards making life a little easier for our constituents especially those that have had enterprises or accommodations prior to TIEZA requirements.” She expressed.
“These are small resorts anyway, it’s not going to hurt anybody. I don’t think that it will be a crazy competition… there’s only few of these people that have downgraded [their accommodations]. Let’s just give them a helping hand also, kasi kawawa na rin ang mga tao, everyone is hungry already.” She added.
Meanwhile, it was agreed at the Municiapal Inter-Agency Task Force (MIATF) meeting to keep the negative RT-PCR test result a requirement for inbound tourists from outside Palawan.
Fully vaccinated local tourists or only from other municipalities in Palawan are no longer required to show a negative Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) result.
