The Department of Education Schools Division Office (SDO) of Palawan together with its partners, Kiwanis Club of Palawan, Pilipinas Star Kids Foundation, Western Command, NAVFORWEST Civil Military Operations Unit, 3rd Marine Brigade, and Puerto Princesa City Water District, conducted “Bayanihan Para Sa Kabataan” in selected schools in the Municipality of Balabac, Palawan last August 26 – 31, 2018.
There were eight schools that benefited in the said activity namely, Banglos Elementary School, Indalawan Elementary School, Indalawan Elementary School, Kambangtule Elementary School, Mangsee National High School School, Melville Elementary School, Melville National High School School, and Pasig Elementary School.
The “Bayanihan Para sa Kabataan” aimed to celebrate the National Heroes Day by extending dental services in the selected schools, increase awareness on the importance of water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) among pupils and students, provide information on chlorine disinfection preparation and handling, gather baseline data on water sources of the selected schools to be conducted by Puerto Princesa Water District, and distribute donations received by the DepEd Palawan Division Office for Severe Tropical Storm Vinta affected school children.
Total beneficiaries were 3,000 pupils and students, who benefited from the health services made available by the SDO and its key partners.
