Ben&Ben says PSU gig is fake news

The nine-piece pop band considered as the most streamed Filipino act of all time—-Ben&Ben—-denies stories circulating in social media that they are set to perform in Palawan State University as part of Binturongan Music Festival.

In a statement issued to Palawan Daily News by Sindikato, Inc., the management firm that handles Ben&Ben, said that the digital poster of the purported event reached them and they wish to clarify that the said information is fake news.

Edzon Rapisora of Sindikato said there is actually a negotiation for their band to perform in the mentioned music festival, however, they are not available on the date that the Palawan State University Student Body Government asked due to a prior commitment.

“We also saw that, starting 2020 every time we get confirm booking for Ben & Ben we send the promoter or the producer a set of photos that they can use with the official logo, tapos yung photo na ginamit is not an official photo of Ben & Ben, and the logo is not the official,” Rapisora said.

PSU Student Body Government President Elijah Daniel P. Geanga also condemned the said misinformation.

He said that the only reason why it circulated is because many students are expecting Ben&Ben to really arrive on March 2 for their annual fund raising event.

The said band is the number one choice of the PSU students to perform during the music fest as part of Student Body Government week, but they have to respect to whatever the band’s reason for not accepting the booking for PSU.

“We are dismissing the story at stake, look at the pop mag hindi sya ganun ka pleasing sa eye, as well as wala dun yung PSU Student Body Government logo, dapat alam ng mga students natin yan, actually it’s a fake news,” Geanga said.

Silent Sanctuary All Set for March 2

And the show must go on. The band confirmed to perform on March 2 at the PSU Field is the 5-member rock band Silent Sanctuary

The group is behind the hit songs “Sayo”, “Hiling”, “Kundiman”, “Tuyo ng Damdamin” and a lot more.

The concert will be in an SRO setting and will start at 5 to 10pm only with 10 front acts mostly student bands and solo performers.

Binturongan Music Festival is now on the second year in line with the 48th founding anniversary of PSU slated on March 2.

It will be a weeklong event that started last Feb 25 until March 3. Food carts and other concessionaires will be available at the venue along with different activities such as inter-college pageants, mascot making contest, fashion show and many more.

Last year 2019, the student government brought Up Dharma Down to PSU for a concert.

“Binturong is a local word for Bearcat, since yung Bearcat is the identity of PSU kumbaga yan yung mascot, so we have decided to rebrand the students week to Binturongan para atleast meron talaga syang brand itself,” Geanga shared.

Tickets for the Silent Sanctuary gig is price at P125 for undergraduate students and members of Student Body Government, and P150 for non-members, PSU senior high students and faculty.

Tickets are now available at the Student lounge area at the gate of PSU Tiniguiban campus, tickets need to be purchase personally, and they don’t accept reservation. Ticket holders will have a chance to win special prizes during the gig.

“We limit the tickets to 6,500 pieces only, as part of our security measures we have limited the outsider tickets or non USG members to only 1,000,” Geanga added.
