Young children attending the Bato-Bato Day Care Center in Barangay Culandanum, Bataraza, Palawan now have a safer environment following the completion of a new center fence project.
The infrastructure project, spearheaded by the Rio Tuba Nickel Mining Corporation (RTNMC), was designed to secure the school grounds and prevent children from wandering near hazardous or sloping terrain surrounding the facility.
Local officials and community stakeholders collaborated on the initiative, drawing support from the Barangay Local Government Unit (LGU) of Culandanum, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and the local indigenous community.
Representatives from RTNMC emphasized that physical security remains a critical component of institutional learning spaces, prompting the construction of the protective perimeter. Village leaders acknowledged that the newly installed barrier addresses long-standing safety concerns for toddlers and preschool learners utilizing the day-care center.
