PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, PALAWAN — SM City Puerto Princesa officially launched its Electric Vehicle Charging Station (EVCS) today, August 18, marking another step in SM Supermalls’ commitment to supporting sustainable mobility and the growing adoption of electric vehicles in the country.
Located at the Carpark, the newly launched EVCS provides electric vehicle owners in Puerto Princesa and Palawan with a more convenient and accessible charging option while visiting the mall.
SM Supermalls launched its EVCS program in 2022, becoming the first mall chain in the country to provide this service on a nationwide scale.
Currently, SM has a total of 169 EVCS across 90 SM malls nationwide, making it the largest and most accessible EV charging network in the Philippines.
The expansion underscores SM’s commitment to creating more sustainable and future-ready communities by integrating green mobility solutions into its properties.
“In line with the government’s National Renewable Energy Program and efforts to promote clean transportation, our EV Charging Stations are available for customers to use free of charge. This facility represents more than just infrastructure, it is a symbol of our shared vision for a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future for Puerto Princesa and the entire province of Palawan,” said Mall Manager Maidja A. Saliente.
“We hope to encourage more Filipinos to embrace electric mobility and contribute to reducing carbon emissions in our communities,” she added.
The EVCS is expected to serve the growing number of four-wheeled electric vehicle users in Puerto Princesa while also encouraging more motorists to consider electric vehicles as a viable and environmentally friendly mode of transportation.
The initiative also complements SM’s broader sustainability efforts, which include energy efficiency, renewable energy, waste management, water conservation, and other programs designed to reduce environmental impact across its properties.
With the addition of SM City Puerto Princesa to its expanding EV charging network, SM continues to make sustainable mobility more accessible not only in major urban centers but also in emerging destinations such as Palawan. As electric vehicle adoption continues to grow in the Philippines, SM remains committed to providing the infrastructure needed to support a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future for Filipino communities.
