Continuing yesterday, August 16, the ongoing Serbisyo Progreso Sambayanan (SPS) Medical Mission is providing vital healthcare services to the residents of Rizal, Palawan. The event was held at the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) Training Center within the town.
Residents from the barangays of Ransang, Candawaga, Culasian, and Panalingaan have received free medical services. On Tuesday, residents from the barangays of Bunog, Iraan, Punta Baja, and Campong Ulay also benefited from the same services.
The SPS Medical Mission for the town of Rizal commenced on August 15, 2023, and is set to conclude tomorrow, August 17. This program is a collaborative effort between the Provincial Government under the leadership of Governor V. Dennis M. Socrates, Dr. Jose Rizal District Hospital (DJRDH), the office of Congressman Jose Ch. Alvarez of the second district of the province, LGU Rizal, Rural Health Unit (RHU), Special Forces, Rizal Sagip Kalusugan (RSK), Palawan State University (PSU)- Rizal Campus, Barangay Health Workers (BHW), Nutrition Scholars (BNS), and Malaria Warriors.
Among the various essential medical services being provided are consultations for obstetrics, pediatrics, and internal medicine, along with the distribution of free medicines and vitamins. The mission also includes free circumcision, laboratory tests, radiology examinations, blood smear tests for malaria, and height and weight measurements.
For the nutrition of expectant mothers, Mid-Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC) checking is being conducted to assess the presence of Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM). Pregnant women with MAM are being provided with milk powder formula packages to help restore their proper nutrition.
The primary aim of this initiative is to bring crucial healthcare services closer to the people of Palawan, aligning with the ongoing efforts of Governor Socrates’ administration to prioritize and advance the health sector.
Meanwhile, the remaining barangays of Taburi, Latud, and Canipaan are currently receiving free medical services in the town, as the activity concludes today.
