In line with the celebration of the National Teacher’s Month, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Palawan honors the heroism and dedication of teachers in delivering education to Palaweño learners amidst the COVID-19 pandemic through a resolution approved during their 58th Regular Session, September 8, 2020.
Board member Sharon Abiog-Onda, the principal author of the resolution, highlighted that the teachers the importance of the contribution of the teachers to deliver quality education in the time of pandemic.
“ ‘Yung ating mga guro are called ‘the living heroes’ dahil sa mga heroic acts na ginagawa nila para sa mga estudyante, sa pag-aact bilang mga magulang sa classroom. Pero this time, they are more than heroes, dahil alam natin na nasa gitna po tayo ng pandemya, nasa gitna tayo ng COVID-19 and yet, they are making means, they are doing their part para ipaabot parin ‘yun pong edukasyon, ‘yun pong learning na nararapat para sa bawat kabataang Palaweño,” said board member Sharon Abiog-Onda, the principal author of the resolution, during her privilege speech.
Onda also said that the recognition is not only for the teachers, but also for the parents who serve as the teachers of their children in this new teaching setting.
With the theme “Gurong Filipino para sa Batang Filipino”, this year’s National Teacher’s Month celebration started on September 5 and is scheduled to end on October 5, 2020.
