Palawan empowers communities with halal education

Palawan promotes awareness of Halal practices through the effective implementation of a Halal Caravan Information and Education Campaign on Tuesday, November 21.
The event, organized by the Palawan Halal Development Council Incorporated (PHDI) in collaboration with the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) and the Puerto Princesa City government, attracted stakeholders ranging from restaurant proprietors to vegetable cultivators and fish by-product producers.
City Administrator Atty. Arnel M. Pedrosa, representing City Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron, expressed gratitude to PHDCI and NCMF for spearheading the dissemination of information regarding Halal Certification.
He stressed that awareness about the importance of Halal products and facilities in the city fuels tourism, attracts business investments, and supports the well-being of local Muslim communities.
Prof. Said-alih K. Sha, Chief Executive Officer of PHDCI, on the other hand, explained the overall concept and foundation of the Halal Information and Education Campaign (IEC).
He said that the dissemination of knowledge about the importance of HALAL accreditation is nationwide, with ongoing initiatives in several municipalities in northern Palawan. Prof. Sha also explained the processes involved in obtaining Halal Certification.
The open dialogue between speakers and participants yielded fruitful insights, enlightening many about the virtues and importance of Halal Certification for products.
