Palawan to host BIMP-EAGA Cluster Meeting and LIVEX

Aligned with the celebration of the National International and Communications Technology Month, a three-day international event is slated on June this year for the BIMP-EAGA Cluster Meeting and LIVEX 2019 Forum, which will be hosted by the province.

“We expect a lot of investors to discuss opportunities, to discuss business, products in the region na hindi natin na promote, [at mga] local products,” said Alan Silor, assistant secretary of the Department of Information.

He added that there will be start-ups in the local business joining in the summit on June 24 – 26.

“Meron tayong promotions on investments to support start-ups,” Asec Silor said.

The event will be joined by businessmen and investors coming from the members of the BIMP-EAGA.

BIMP-EAGA is the Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East Asian Growth Area that promotes economic cooperation initiative, which was founded in March 24, 1994 at Davao City.

The objectives of the event are to promote the BIMP-EAGA events such as LIVEX and CEOs’ forum and ICT Cluster Meeting; encouraging technology and outsourcing innovators to showcase their products or services during the event; promote business-to-business meetings with BIMP-EAGA innovators, investors and local industry stakeholders; and promote the creation of new linkages for the ICT Industry in Palawan.

The event briefer states that LIVEX 2019 is the signature event of the BIMP-EAGA Region, highlighting the gains and best practices of various sub-regions that contributed to bridging the digital divide and inclusive growth.

It added that the CEO Forum aims to bring together technology innovators in the country, and provide them with a platform to share their gains, challenges and opportunities as they help communities toward digital transformation.

Furthermore, the cluster meeting aims to discuss ICT related plans, projects and their progress with other stakeholders.
