The program is a partnership between the ProvinciaI Government of Palawan and the Philippine Mental Health Association Inc. a non-stock, non-profit organization that advocates for optimum mental health care for mentally sick Filipinos.

Patients are given free medical services and medicine. Included as a component of the program is the delivery of assistance to patients like medical services by psychiatrist and psychologist. There are also interventions like counselling and proper guidance to the family members and caregiver of individuals with mental illness.

The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), headed by Abigail Ablaña, was tasked to implement the program. Currently, they identified three municipalities as part of the program and will expand it this year to other towns in the province.

“Ito ay nakatakdang palawigin sa iba’t ibang panig ng lalawigan sa taong ito,” the statement said.

As an important component of the program, the provinciaI government training on Basic Concepts of Mental Health trained the municipal health officers, municipal day care workers, social workers, and barangay health workers and those who will engaged in providing services to the patients.
