The City Government of Puerto Princesa headed by City Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron, city officials, barangay officials led the groundbreaking of the proposed mini-city hall in Barangay Luzviminda on Wednesday, August 12, 2020, in a bid to bring the local government services closer to the city’s southern barangays residents and fast-track the implementation of infrastructure projects in the area.

The City allocated P27.8-million for the mini city hall project.

Ladi Gemang, Punong Barangay of Luzviminda, is thankful that their barangay has been chosen to host one of the mini city hall which he said will help substantial number of his constituents, especially in the delivery of health services.

The City Government considered this feat as a dream come true that will spur growth and bring more opportunities to the local residents, and make government services more accessible to local residents.

Last year, the City Government opened the mini city hall in Macarascas and appointed former City Councilor Modesto “Jonjie” Rodriguez II to manage its operations.

Early this year, the City opened its second mini-city hall located in Barangay Napsan, serving the western barangays of the city. In the northeastern part, a mini city hall is also eyed in Barangay San Rafael.

Executive Assistant and former City Councilor Feliberto “Felly Boy” Oliveros III said that the City Mayor called a meeting on Thursday morning, August 13, 2020, in preparation of the new city hall project in San Rafael.

The construction of four mini city halls in four strategic barangays intends to decentralize local government services in order to fast track transactions and the delivery of basic social services to the people.

Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron said that Equipment Acquisition Program of 2019 enable the city to acquire heavy equipment such as pay loader, grader, trucks and other equipment.

“These equipment will compliment and fast track our mini city halls. Tayo ay magpapadala ng maraming equipment para ma-apura ang pag-trabaho ng ating mga mini city halls,” he said.

Barangay Luzviminda is one of the city’s southern barangays with more than 3,000 populations. It is 33 kilometers from the city proper of Puerto Princesa City.
