Ganap nang pirmado ng Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ang Executive Order 171 o ang pagpapatupad ng mababang buwis ng mga imported pork product kasabay ng inilatag na rekomendasyon ng National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA).

Layunin ng EO 171 ang mapagaan  ang epekto ng inflation sa bansa kung kaya’t hanggang katapusan ng 2023 ang murang taripa na ipapatong sa produktong karne ng baboy, mais, bigas at karbon.

Nakasaad sa kautusan ang mga imported na baboy ay sisingilin ng 15 percent para sa in-quota at 25 percent para sa out-quota, mais sa 5 percent para sa in-quota at 15 percent para sa out-quota, at bigas sa 35 percent.

 

Kasunod nito, umalma ang Samahang Industriya ng Agrikultura (SINAG) dahil para sa kanila, tanging mga importer at trader lamang ang makakabenepisyo sa pinirmahang EO ng Pangulong Marcos.

 

Sinabi ni Jayson Cainglet, Executive Director (SINAG), “It is a sad day for the agriculture sector. Only a few privileged importers and traders have benefitted and will continue to benefit in extending the EO, not the producers, not the consumers, not the government.”

 

Kaugnay nito, mariing hinihiling ng grupong SINAG na marapat na mas suportahan ng pamahalan ang mga istratehiyang magpapalakas sa lokal na produksyon ng mga magbababoy, magsasaka at mangingisda.
