To be able to inspire more kids to do good in school this year, JCI Puerto Princesa Oil implemented the “Bags-to-School” program at Magbanua Memorial Elementary School at Libis Road, Barangay San Pedro, Puerto Princesa City with 100 elementary students as beneficiaries.
Bags-to-School is one of JCI Philippines’ national projects that aims to provide schools supplies to deserving and in need elementary students from marginalized families. A school bag with a set of school supplies such as notebooks, pencil, pen, crayons, papers, envelopes, art papers, etc. are given out. As early as May 27, 2019, the learners of Magbanua Memorial Elementary School received theirs.
It is a continuous program that is beyond the act of merely giving school supplies to students. The main goal of this program is to help students in pursuing their dreams and be better citizens in the community and be instruments in nation-building.
This program this year is part of Project Assemble 5 Year 2 of JCI Oil, initiated by Project Chair Ivy Marie Bayog. Other activities included classroom repainting, dental hygiene training, parlor games and puppet show for kids, while parents participated in organic gardening forum facilitated by JCI Oil member Emmanuelle Agas.
Helping to reach the children’s goal of their future thru giving school supplies may seem a usual act of generosity from sponsors and NGO, but the impact it creates is a positive change to the lives of those students and it can make a difference.
