Bishop Socrates Mesiona of Apostolic Vicariate of Puerto Princesa (AVPP), for the second time around, has been appointed as one of the members of a Congregation responsible in spreading the Catholic faith around the world.
“I am delighted with this reappointment. I am excited to be part again of the Vatican’s mission and evangelization arm working throughout the world,” according to Bishop Mesiona thru a text message.
Sharing his previous experience, Mesiona said that they act as an advisory body and because of members’ diverse background, they give a global perspective to the Congregation.
In a recent posted article of AVPP Ugnayan-Apostolic Vicariate of Puerto Princesa, it states that Pope Francis reappointed Bishop Mesiona in Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples after his five-year first term ended on July 14, 2019.
Through its missionary works and related activities, the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples is responsible for the spread of the Catholic faith worldwide.
The AVPP said that the said appointment was relayed thru a letter dated November 20, 2020 by His Eminence Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle, Prefect of the Congregation. Based on the appointment letter, since October 13, 2020, the prelate’s 5-year membership to the congregation has started.
