Puerto Princesa Mayor Lucilo Bayron is optimistic that his City wide smart Lighting project will result to a good and strong economy of the City, it will give birth to a nighttime industry as per study in the result of the said related program in the City of London.
The Smart LED Lighting project has a total budget of P700 million with 5 phases that started in July 2013, with a target of 7,000 bulbs to be lighted up in the whole City including rural and urban areas. At present it is now in the phase 3 with 1, 804 bulbs installed plus 10,000 solar lamps that is targeted to finish by December 2020 for a total of 7,000 bulbs that comes with 5 year warranty from its contractor.
“Ang smart lighting ay one of the basic responsibilities ng local governments, isa siya sa pangunahing tungkulin ng isang pamahalan upang magbigay ng magandang kapaligiran sa mga mamamayan ng lugar, ang maliwanag na lansangan ay patunay na good governance o mahusay na panunungkulan,” Bayron said.
Having this in Puerto Princesa, it puts Philippines in the list as rank 58 countries in the world and the first in the country that put up Smart LED Lights to which Vigan and Baguio City follow. Initial benefits of it is having less crime and less road accidents.
“Napakarami ng direction natin, isa lang ‘yung paliwanagin ang Puerto Princesa kasi may overall direction tayong tinitingnan, eh doon pa rin sa tourism at economy, sa boung mundo city of London yung nighttime economy nyan ay 3rd biggest industry sa London, marami siyang tinalo na industry, maganda na makapagtayo ng nighttime economy for the City of Puerto Princesa,” Bayron explain
The supplier of the bulbs according to Mayor is Sinerygy company of light bulb manufacturer Philips, it is a good deal in terms of pricing that the City were able to get due to bulk orders, plus the said contractor also gave donations to the City Government particularly those 3,500 bulbs that will be used for the soon to rise Christmas Tree of the City.
In a press conference last November 10 at Dang Maria Resto, Bayron emphasized that this project will bring huge impact to the local tourism and will keep the economy rolling even at night.
“People will be talking about Puerto Princesa lalo na kung makita nila ang difference ng Puerto Princesa City, umuwi ka ngayon sa eroplano ng gabi makikita mo yung difference, makikita mo maliwanag na, siyudad na ang Puerto princesa samantalang dati madilim, nakakadagdag sa attractiveness, nakakadagdag sa pag invite ng mga guest to come, maraming magiging benefit,” Bayron said.
