Around eighty individuals who were affected by two separate fire incidents in Barangay Model and San Miguel, Puerto Princesa City received canned goods, clothing, and hygiene kits during the gift giving activity recently spearheaded by Palawan Daily News and its partners and supporters.
“Maraming salamat po sa Palawan Daily News, sa lahat ng mga sponsors, maraming salamat po. Malaking tulong na po sa amin ito,” said Elvie Comendador, one of the beneficiaries of the gift giving activity.
As of the writing, there were only two families left staying in Mateo Jagmis Memorial Elementary School that served as their temporary shelter, while the affected families in Barangay Model stayed in Palawan National School for the time being.
“Maraming salamat po sa tulong ng ating mga project partners, lalong-lalo na sa Petrosphere Incorporated, kay Sir Bong Villanueva, Ms. Palawan Charities, Kiwanis Young Club of Puerto Princesa, JCI Oil, Yamang Bukid Farm, kabilang na din ang Batang Puerto Princesa,” said Kent N. Janaban, publisher of Palawan Daily News.
Ms. Palawan 2018 Shara Maxine Barbers participated in the gift giving activity and led the distribution of the goods and kits.
“Super nakakataba po ng puso ang pagtulong. Ini encourage po namin kayo na magtulong in your own smallest ways. This is a life changing moment hindi lang po sa kanila kundi rin po sa atin. Nakakatuwa din kasi parang hindi sila nasunugan. Super resilient talaga ng mga Filipino,” said Barbers.
Actively supported the activity was the Kiwanis Club of Young Professionals headed by its club president, John Castor Viernes, together with their officers and members.
“Maraming, maraming salamat po sa lahat na tumulong, especially sa ating mga sponsors and donors,” said Viernes.
JCI Oil Puerto Princesa through its representative, Mr. Gilbert Ramoya, supported the gift giving activity, as well.
