The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) in Puerto Princesa recorded the lowest temperature in the island in this year’s Amihan season last Thursday, January 17.
Chief Meteorological Officer of PAGASA-PPC, Mr. Sonny Pajarilla it was roughly around 6:20 A.M. when they recorded the lowest temperature experienced by the city of Puerto Princesa which was 21.9 degrees Celsius.
Amihan season started last year during the month of November and will peak on the month of February this year.
Typically the lowest temperature during an Amihan season is usually recorded in-between the 3rd week of January up to the 2nd week of February, mentioned by Pajarilla. He also mentioned that due to the Amihan season the city experienced moderate to strong winds which he reminds sailors and fishers to always be careful especially in open sea areas.
“Ngayon sa mga bangka yun medyo ay delikado, walang pagbabawal pero sa atin, sinasabi natin lagi na maging maingat po sila dahil nasa halos tatlong metro po ang alon sa ating mga karagatan lalo na sa open sea dahil sa malakas na alon,” he said.
