Puerto Princesa commuters will now have an alternative of hailing motorcycle taxis after the banning of tricycles in national roads.

The stricter implementation of the order disallowing three-wheeled vehicles in Puerto Princesa national roads received a huge flak from the commuting public citing that they can no longer travel with ease and have to suffer the higher fare costs having to ride multiple times to reach their destination.

A group of young businessmen came up with a solution by launching Backride Palawan, conceptualized as a transport service that can be accessed through an application (app) in the mobile phone.

The Backrider Palawan app is now in the works targeted to be in full operation by Monday, February 17. Their initial service area is the City proper. In an exclusive interview with Palawan Daily News, Backride Palawan Founder Vergel Dela Fuerta said that upon posting of this development in their Facebook page today, February 10 – they received numerous positive responses from riders and passengers.

“Sudden lang talaga ‘to (Backride Palawan), before namin to i-put up nakapag-isip na kami na relate din sa backride, gusto sana namin mag Grab Food, yun sana ipu-put up namin kaso grabe yung preparation kaya medyo na-delay kami. Kaya nung nagkahulihan sa tricycle na wala na talaga, yun gin-grab talaga namin na in 2 to 3 days na gawin namin agad, ngayon na,” Dela Fuerta said.

Dela Fuerta added that they are currently into recruiting biker- partners and will schedule an orientation any day this week. In the said event, they will reveal the fare rates and rules that they will implement for both bikers and future passengers who will use the motorbike – hailing app.  The app will be free for download.

Backride Palawan is now securing all legal requirements needed to make their operation legit and official, for now they want to gather all riders who wish to be affiliated with them.
