To empower and prepare the youth for a brighter financial future, the Provincial Cooperative Development Office (PCDO) of the Palawan Provincial Government is spearheading the establishment of a cooperative exclusively dedicated to the youth.
Known as the “KOOP-BATA sa Palawan” program, the initiative is set to be officially launched on August 11, 2023, at 1:00 PM, at the VJR Hall in the provincial capitol, alongside the signing of a momentous Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with partner agencies.
The KOOP-BATA sa Palawan program will serve as a Laboratory Cooperative, aiming to provide young individuals with essential training in money management, savings, and cooperative management. The program seeks to instill financial literacy and discipline among the youth, equipping them with the necessary skills to engage in prudent financial practices.
Yesterday, July 19, the PCDO held a crucial meeting with the Department of Education (DepEd) Palawan to discuss the upcoming Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing scheduled for August. The MOA will solidify the collaboration between the two entities in launching the KOOP-BATA sa Palawan program.
The primary goal of the program is to instill financial literacy and discipline among the youth, teaching them the importance of saving and managing money wisely from an early age. By doing so, the PCDO aims to empower young individuals to make informed financial decisions that will benefit them in the long run.
Through this initiative, the Palawan Provincial Government envisions creating a generation of financially responsible citizens who can actively participate in cooperatives and contribute to community development. By familiarizing the youth with the principles and practices of cooperatives, the program seeks to ensure a smoother transition for them into regular cooperatives when they reach the appropriate age.
