PSA: Pagdami ng huling galunggong sa Palawan, dahil sa ‘closed season’

Puerto Princesa City—Tumaas ng 1.10 porsiyento ang dami ng huling galunggong sa Palawan ngayong second quarter ng taon kumpara noong 2017 ng parehong quarter.

Sa talaang inilatag ni Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)- Palawan Officer in Charge Oscar Gatpandan sa “Kapihan sa Philippine Information Agency” noong Huwebes, 3,721.79 metriko tonelada (MT) ang kabuoang huli ng municipal at commercial fishing ngayong taon.

Angat ito sa dami ng huli noong 2017 na mayroon 3,681.43 MT. Sinabi ni Gatpandan na dahil sa pagpapatupad ng tatlong buwang “closed season” ng Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) sa panghuhuli ng galunggong na nagsimula noong unang araw ng Nobyembre hanggang ika-31 ng Enero, nagresulta ito ng magandang huli ng mga commercial fisher (tatlong tonelada pataas ang huli) ngayong taon na pasok sa mga buwan ng April-June.

“May magandang resulta ang ‘closed season’ na in-implement ng Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), medyo bumaba lang ang huli ng sa municipal pero iyong sa commercial, tumaas,” ani Gatpandan.

Batay pa rin sa talaan ng PSA, mas marami ang huli ng commercial ngayong 2nd quarter na mayroong 2,077.03 MT kumpara sa nakalipas na taon na may 2,000.17 MT lamang. Pero pagdating sa maliitang panghuhuli (municipal boat), mas marami ang huli noong 2017 na mayroong 1,674.26 MT kumpara sa kasalukuyang taon na 1,644.76 MT lamang.

Matatandaang ika-apat na beses nang ipinatupad ng BFAR ang pagbabawal sa panghuhuli ng galunggong ng mga commercial fisher (pangulong) sa nasasakupan ng hilagang-silangan ng lalawigan upang mabigyan ng pagkakataong makapangitlog at mas lumaki pa ang mga isda. Base naman sa monitoring ng BFAR, ang Palawan ang siyang pinagmumulan ng halos karamihan sa mga itinitindang galunggong sa kamaynilaan. (EM/PDN)
