A midwife from the town of Narra, Palawan lost her life in a fatal motorcycle accident around 9AM yesterday, August 11, along South National Highway, Barangay Inagawan, Puerto Princesa City.

The midwife, identified as Karen Dela Torre from Barangay Bagong Sikat, Narra, Palawan was traveling to Puerto Princesa with her husband and daughter while they met with the unfortunate accident.

According to one of her colleagues at Narra Rural Health Unit (RHU), in a selfless act of bravery, the victim attempted to shield and protect her daughter from harm’s way during the accident. Despite her heroic efforts, the impact of the collision resulted in her sustaining fatal injuries.

Tragically, she succumbed to her injuries not long after she was brought to Puerto Princesa for medical attention.

Her husband, who was also involved in the crash, fortunately suffered only minor injuries and is receiving medical attention.

The entire health community of Narra is in mourning as they remember Dela Torre’s dedication, compassion, and commitment to her profession. Colleagues, friends, and family members are gathering to pay their respects to the departed soul, whose brave and selfless act will forever be etched in the hearts of those she touched.
