Dalawang White-bellied Sea Eagle na may scientific name na Haliaeetus leucogaster ang nasagip noong March 12, 2021, sa Bayan ng San Vicente at March 14, 2021, sa El Nido, Palawan.

Ayon sa tagapagsalita ng Palawan Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD) na si Jovic Fabello, isang concerned citizen ang nag-turnover ng isa sa mag sea eagle sa LGU San Vicente. Sa pagsisiyasat, nadiskubre na may bali ito sa kaliwang pak-pak.

“Well actually yung nakalagay sa report, tinurnover niya ito doon sa MDRRM ng San Vicente noong March 12 ngunit walang nakalagay kung paano ito nakita kung papaano nangyari kung bakit nabali yung pak-pak.”

Noong Marso 14, 2021 naman, isang sea eagle ang nasagip ng isang kawani ng Philippine Navy na nagpa-patrolya sa baybayin ng Cadlao Island, El Nido, Palawan.

“Result ito ng pagpa-patrol ng Navy sa area ng Cadlao Island at nakita ito ng Naval Special Forces Operation Unit 10 (NAVSOU10) personnel along the vicinity ng Cadlao Island sa El Nido nung nag co-conduct siya ng maritime patrol nung March 14 mga around 3:20 P.M.”

“Nung nakita niya yung eagle sabi niya medyo in distress na ito at nasa tubig na at halos malulunod na ito siguro nahilo or what hindi natin alam yung nangyari kung bakit bumagsak sa tubig yung agila.”

“Trineat nila and pina-rehabilitate and dinala sa WESCOM so tamang-tama naman pagdala sa WESCOM eh mayroon silang founding anniversary tinurnover na nila ito sa PCSD.”

Samantala hindi pa tukoy ng PCSD ang rason kung bakit ganon na lamang ang sinapit ng dalawang agila subalit may paalala naman ito sa mga Palaweño.

“Paalala po sa ating mga kababayan lalong-lalo na sa mga coastal areas na kapag nakakita ng mga agila katulad na nitong Palawan Sea Eagle ay pabayaan lang po natin sila. Isa sila sa mga parte ng mga apex predator kung tawagin, na siyang tumutulong sa web cycle o food chain ng ating ecological processes.” -PCSD Spokesperson Jovic Fabello.
