The Department of Health estimates about 2,488 health workers have received their COVID-19 booster shots, according to the latest DOH data released on November 20, 2021.
Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said only around 2% experienced adverse effects such as high blood pressure, headache and slight fever after getting an additional jab.
She also stated that no one experienced severe symptoms that needed to be brought to the hospital.
After a long discussion on booster doses, the national government finally started giving additional jabs on November 17 and are prioritizing healthcare workers for now.
Food and Drug Administration Director General Usec. Eric Domingo said that booster shots will only be offered to those places with high vaccinees. And the current guidelines are subject to change depending on the available data.
Meanwhile, four vaccines have been approved by the FDA for boosters. These are Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Sputnik Light, and Sinovac.
