Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, during his taped Talk to the People virtual briefing on Monday, February 7, announced that he is getting ready to step out of the Malacañang Palace as soon as his term ends in four months.
“I am already packing my stuff. So I should be out by March. I will no longer wait until April. I won’t sleep here either,” he said, in a mix of English and Tagalog.
“Kung saan ako dalhin ni Diyos, I’ll start practicing to sleep there. I’ll juts come here for the day-today work; what’s left of things we have to work on,” Duterte said.
The president also said that he will ask his wife to buy a small condo, having no plans to further stay in Manila, except being in Malacañang for work related activities.
“Buy a small condo where I can hang out whenever I’m here in Manila, even if it has only two bedrooms,” Duterte said.
On recent news, Duterte shared that he was, in a way, being persuaded by almost all presidential candidates for endorsement, but he turned them all down, saying that all of presidential aspirants vying for this year’s poll are qualified.
“I may (support one) in the end if my advice and endorsement would help, if needed. But at this time, I am saying I am not supporting anybody,” Duterte said in a recent interview with the national media.
Meanwhile, before he officially steps out of office, he said that he would wait for the announcement of the day of the turnover of the Presidential Inauguration to have a short “tea talk” to the next elected president.
