Ininspeksyon ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. at ni Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Sharon Garin ang itinatayong proyektong Malampaya Phase IV Drilling ng Drillship Noble Viking sa El Nido, Palawan, kahapon, Hulyo 14.

Sakay ang pangulo at ang sekretarya ng Presidential Helicopter Bell 412 kasama ang ilang mga opisyal nang isagawa ang fly-by inspection.
Ang naturang proyekto ay bahagi ng mas pinaigting na hakbang ng administrasyon upang palakasin ang seguridad sa enerhiya ng bansa sa gitna ng patuloy na pangangailangan sa langis at kuryente.

Sa ilalim ng Phase 4, kasalukuyang nagbabarena ng tatlong (3) bagong balon: Camago-3, Malampaya East-1, at Bagong Pag-asa-1. Layunin nito na mapalawig ang buhay ng gas field at mapatatag ang suplay ng enerhiya ng bansa.

Matatandaan noong taong 2001 nang unang maka-supply ng gas ang Malampaya Deep Water Gas-to-Power Project at patuloy na itong nagbibigay ng hanggang 40% na power demand sa Luzon.

Nauna nang natapos ang Phase 2 ng Malampaya noong taong 2013 at ang Phase 3 noong taong 2015. Ang Phase 4 drilling ay inaasahang tutugon sa nakaambang curtailment ng planta sa 2029.

Orihinal na nakatakdang matapos ang proyekto noong Pebrero 2024, ngunit ito ay na-renew at pinalawig hanggang Pebrero 22 taong 2039, na magbibigay-daan sa patuloy na produksyon sa loob pa ng labing-limang taon.

Inaasahan naman ng DOE na magsisimula ang unang paghahatid ng gas sa ika-apat na quarter ng taong 2026.
Sa kasalukuyan, unti-unti nang umuusad ang operasyon ng pagbabarena sa Malampaya rig patungo sa ilalim ng dagat sa pag-asang makakatuklas ng panibagong mapagkukunan ng langis.
