Senator Tulfo, nais suriin ang minimum wage policies dahil sa tumataas na inflation

Naghain ng isang resolusyon si Senator Raffy Tulfo na ma-review ang kasalukuyang patakaran sa pagtaas ng minimum wage para mapabuti ang kalidad ng buhay ng mga manggagawa, partikular na ang mga nasa lower income bracket.

Ayon sa Senate Resolution No. 476, hindi na umano sapat ang kasalukuyang minimum wage na tinatanggap ng ordinaryong empleyado o manggagawa dahil sa patuloy na pagtaas ng inflation o krisis sa ekonomiya ng bansa.

 

“The current minimum wage increase will not be able to sustain the living conditions of workers,” ayon kay Tulfo.

 

“It is imperative to improve the standard of living and quality of life for workers, particularly those in the lower income bracket, and to ensure that the policies on the minimum wage increase are fair, effective, and consistent with the needs of workers and the economy,” dagdag niya.

 

Matatandaang ang huling pagtaas sa sahod ng mga mangagagawa ay nangyari Hunyo pa noong nakaraang taon, kung saan tumaas mula P530-570 ang sahod kada araw ng mga empleyado sa Maynila at P306-470 naman sa iba’t ibang rehiyon ng bansa.

 

Sa kabila ng nasabing pagtaas, sinabi ni Tulfo na ang tumataas na inflation rate na pumalo ng 8.7% noong Enero 2023 ay may malaking epekto sa pamumuhay ng mga mangagawa.
