VP Sara Duterte calls on filipinos to pray against corruption and self-interest during undas

Vice President Sara Duterte urged Filipinos to use the solemn occasion of Undas not only to remember their loved ones but to pray for the nation’s resilience against corruption and self-interest. Highlighting what she described as the “evil” motivations of a select few who prioritize wealth and power over the common good, Duterte called for a unified effort in prayer to seek peace and integrity for the country.
Duterte’s call for reflection comes at a time of visible tension between her and President Marcos’s camp, which has been marked by an ongoing exchange of critical statements between her family and Marcos’s allies in the House of Representatives.
In her message, Duterte also encouraged the public to pray for the eternal rest of their dearly departed, recognizing the importance of gratitude for the love and guidance left by those who have passed on.
“May the importance of remembering the saints and our departed loved ones be the heart of our celebration of Undas,” she added.
House Speaker Martin Romualdez also delivered his own Undas message, urging Filipinos to honor the legacy of saints and loved ones by fostering unity and compassion. Romualdez encouraged the public to find strength in remembrance, saying,
“As we come together on this sacred occasion of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, let us pause to honor the saints and the loved ones who have touched our lives, those whose spirit and memory continue to inspire us long after they have gone,” Romualdez said.
