The Miss Palawan Charities Inc. released a public statement on its Facebook page on Tuesday night, March 1, in response to the complaints of Miss Universe Palawan 2021, Klaidel Hope Concepcion, contained in her formal narrative report submitted to the Capitol.
Here is the statement:
“The Miss Palawan Charities Inc. (MPCI) is a non-profit organization founded in 2018 with the aim of being a platform not only to help aspiring Palaweña beauty queens to compete for higher titles in the national stage, but also to aid the communities in Palawan through events such as charities among others.
“These past few days – following the coronation of Miss Palawan Universe 2022 – there have been a lot of issues circulating online especially on Facebook, attacking the legitimacy and integrity of our organization.
“The MPCI has taken note of the false accusations or allegations that people commented on the different social media posts. We wish to inform the public that we are currently dealing with our legal team to arrange the various issues and to impose criminal sanctions on any form of defamation or other violations related hereto which the people have made against the organization.
“The law requires public trial and not trial by publicity. That is why at MPCI, we do not condone people’s treatment of the issue -adding fuel to the fire with false or baseless statements. We believe that there is always a proper avenue and a right time to fight for the truth.
“Despite all these, the MPCI is still hopeful that the girls, our queens, especially the recently-crowned Miss Palawan Universe 2022 and our representative to the MUPh 2022 pageant will continue to shine, inspire, and empower.
“We wish to thank all the individuals and organizations who have, since then, shown their sincere support to the organization in all the rocky situations that the MPCI has went through.
– Miss Palawan Charities Inc.”
On the other hand, a few hours after MPCI’s post, Concepcion responded through a Facebook post, along with the screenshots of the organization’s statement that have only addressed that they are a non-profit organization that was founded in 2018.
Here is the Miss Universe Palawan 2021 queen’s post:
“Comprehension Exercise: In which paragraph did they address the status of their SEC registration?
“The question is very easy. It is a yes/no situation, that YES, they are registered or NO, that they’ve been operating illegally since 2018.”
As of this writing, the CEO and Founder of Miss Palawan Charities Inc., Mr. Edgardo “Bong” S. Villanueva has yet to send a message to Palawan Daily giving statement after he promised to give his statement upon his return to the city.
