NAVFORWEST receives donation for Kalayaan elementary school

Naval Station Apolinario Jalandoon, Bgy. San Miguel, Puerto Princesa City- The Naval Forces West received here on June 20, the donated school supplies and other equipment intended for the Kalayaan Elementary School, and were subsequently transported yesterday, June 22, 2020 to Pagasa Island, Kalayaan Island Group (KIG) via navy islander.

Assorted school supplies, sports equipment, laptop, projector and Smart TV for multipurpose hall, all intended for the said school were received by this Command through the efforts of General Felimon Santos Jr, the Chief of Staff, Armed Forces of the Philippines (CSAFP). CSAFP personally coordinated with the donating party to make the initiative possible and convey a nationalistic message to the people of Pagasa Island.

The abovementioned supplies were intended to provide access to education to underprivileged children of Kalayaan Elementary School.

Said donations came from Jaime V Ongpin Foundation Incorporated (JVOFI), a non-stock, non-profit organization in Baguio City that works in partnership with local and foreign donors, business, government agencies, other NGOs and people’s organizations in pursuing development programs within its target communities.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, your AFP through the Naval Forces West, is committed to help and reach out remote communities in the country’s Western Frontier.
