The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will be conducting a Labor Day Job Fair in celebration of the 117th Labor Day in Western Philippine University (WPU) Aborlan Campus Gymnasium on May 1, 2019, 8AM to 5 PM.
The industries that will join the Job Fair will be malls, call centers, banks and manpower agencies. There will also be job openings abroad that will join the Job Fair needing skilled workers, household service workers and hotel service workers.
The Job Fair will be conducted on Aborlan to reach the southern stretch of Palawan and give chance to those people far from the city wherein many job fairs were already conducted.
According from Chief Labor and Employment Officer Luis B. Evangelista, aside from the job openings, there will also be a Business Career Fair to be held by the DTI in adherence to the DOLE’s Trabaho, Negosyo and Kabuhayan Approach providing not just job openings but other government services. The Business Fair will be for people who are planning to venture into business and DTI will be conducting business forums and livelihood orientation.
The Job Fair will be a “one-stop shop” event for the workers offering services from other agencies of the government like Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Social Security System, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), PAG-IBIG, Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Philppine Statistics Authority and Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).
DOLE is proposing to add the Career Fair in the Job Fair providing orientation to the people regarding approaches during job interviews to be more ‘bentable’ or acceptable in job interviews in partnership with WPU Career Center. This will help applicants to be more effective during job interviews by teaching them the do’s and don’ts in application.
“Orientation about career, papaano ba sila magiging bentable para sa mga nagiinterview sa mga Human Resource Officer. Papaano ba ang tamang mas maganda na maging ano (approach) ng isang aplikante. From sa approach pa lamang hanggang sa deretsong interview ay mabigyan ng guide,” said Evangelista.
