Kakulangan ng internet service ng mga estudyante, balakid sa pagbubukas ng klase sa PSU Narra

Matinding balakid sa nakatakdang pagsisimula ng klase sa September 1 ang kakulangan ng internet service ng mga estudyante sa Palawan State University Narra Campus ayon sa pamunuan ng unibersidad.

Sa pahayag ni Dr. Gerlie Boni, campus director ng PSU Narra nang imbitahan sa sesyon ng Sangguniang Panlalawigan noong Martes, ika-18ng Agosto, sinabi nitong base sa kanilang survey 17.27% lamang sa mga estudyante ang may internet access habang 62.29% lamang ang may gadgets kagaya ng laptop at smartphones na maaari nilang magamit sa pag-aaral.

Dahil dito humihiling ang Palawan State University Narra sa pamahalaang panlalawigan para sa pagpapatayo ng satellite internet hubs at mobile internet hotspots hindi lamang sa Narra kundi sa lahat ng campuses ng unibersidad sa mga munisipyo na aminadong may problema din sa internet service.

“Kung maaari po ay magkaroon kami ng satellite internet hubs sa bawat munisipyo in strategic location and as much as possible magkaroon po ng mobile internet hotspot [para] po sa amin [pong mga estudyante sa] mga munisipyo,” dagdag pa ni Boni.

Sa pag-aaral ng PSU Narra kung anong angkop na pagtuturo ang nais ng mga estudyante, lumalabas na 84.58% ang printed module o offline, 8.17% ang online module at 7.21% para sa google o online classroom.

Ayon pa kay Boni hindi rin umano kasama sa annual budget ng paaralan ang gastos sa pag-imprenta ng modules kung kaya estudyante muna ang magbabayad para dito.

“We offered our students if they could shoulder the cost of printing of the printed modules since hindi po ito naka-include sa PPMP po ng PSU Narra ang pagpo-produce ng modules this year,” dagdag pa ni Boni.

Samantala, nang tanungin ang kahandaan ng unibersidad sa pagbubukas ng klase, ayon kay Dr. Eva Jimenez, vice president for academic affairs ng PSU, 70% na ang kanilang kahandaan para sa pagsisimula ng klase sa September 1.
