One Palawan Movement, dismayadong hindi magkakaroon ng debate

Dismayado ang kampo ng One Palawan Movement dahil hindi magkakaroon umano ng debate sa pagitan nito at ng 3in1 Palawan lalo na’t nalalapit ang botohan para sa plebesito na kung saan ay magtatatag ng 3 probinsya sa lalawigan ng Palawan.

“Kasi umaasa kami sana na mayro’n parang third party like COMELEC or kaya any of the watchers…’yung tinatawag nilang watch dogs like example PPCRB na sila ‘yung mag-conduct or any objective na third party magconduct no’ng parang forum.” Ayon kay Cynthia Sumagaysay ng One Palawan Movement.

Dagdag pa nito na maraming tao ang humihiling na magkaroon ng debate ngunit hindi ito isasagawa ng COMELEC.

“Marami [ang umaasa] …na sana nga may gano’ng pa-forum na magkatapat ‘yung dalawang panig… ‘Yung pulong-pulong sana ng COMELEC kaso parang nagbago ‘yung kanilang direction na sila ay naka-focus lang daw doon sa rules ng plebiscite. ‘Yung lang ang kanilang dala-dala hindi nila in-invite ‘yung both sides [na mag-participate sa isang forum].”

Ayon naman sa isang residenteng taga Munisipyo ng Roxas, dapat umano magkaroon ng debate sa pagitan ng dalawang panig upang lumawak ang kaalaman ng mga mamamayan at para na rin makapagdesisyon kung alin ang nararapat iboto.

“Ang basehan ng plebecito [ay] kailangan dumaan [muna] sa masusing pag-aaral o research para maiwasan ang bias. Kaya gusto ko po ng official debate tapos dapat mapapanood ng mga Palaweño bukod sa maihahayag nila ‘yung major points nila, maitataas din ang kamalayan ng mga Palaweño sa punto ng pro at anti [One Palawan Movement at 3in1 Palawan]. Marami kasi sa amin ang umaayon lamang pero wala naman talagang concrete na basis. Tapos ‘yung pamahalaan puro positive lang ang highlight at wala man lang ‘adverse effect’. Nababanggit pero ‘di nabubusisi.”
