US Embassy Consul Kristofor Graf and Assistant Consular Affairs Officer Maita Pelayo-Carandang undertook a courtesy visit to the Palawan government on Monday, October 23, with a primary goal of enhancing bilateral relations.
The visit provided a crucial opportunity to explore potential areas for cooperation and partnerships between Palawan and the US government. A significant proposal was discussed focusing on creating an American assistance center in Palawan.
This center is designed to offer vital aid and support to US residents in the province, reaffirming a commitment to their well-being, particularly in times of emergencies and disasters.
Palawan Governor V. Dennis M. Socrates emphasized his enthusiasm to launch initiatives and partnerships with the US government that would bring real advantages to the people of Palawan.
The high-level meeting involved notable officials from the Palawan government including Provincial Legal Officer Atty. Joshua Bolusa, Provincial Information Officer Atty. Christian Jay Cojamco, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Abigail Ablaña, Provincial Tourism Promotions and Development Officer Maribel Buñi, and Executive Assistant Mr. Albert Rama.
According to the Provincial Information Office (PIO), this visit represents a notable step forward in the pursuit of mutually advantageous collaborations and partnerships, further strengthening the diplomatic ties between the United States and the province of Palawan.
