Palawan’s young basketball talents are set the court aflame as they converge for the 1st SPS Governor’s Cup Inter-Municipality Basketball League.

This much-anticipated event is open to all Palawan residents aged 21 and below, and is set to be a basketball spectacle like no other.

Under the leadership of Executive Assistant III Christian Albert Sabando Miguel, representing the Office of the Governor, in close collaboration with the Provincial Sports Division, this event advances the vision set forth by Governor V. Dennis M. Socrates.

This tournament carries significant importance beyond the realm of sports. It provides an invaluable platform for the province’s young athletes to shine, emphasizing the rich tapestry of talent woven within the communities of Palawan.

Beyond the dribbling, three-pointers, and slam dunks, the league strives to foster teamwork, community spirit, camaraderie, and sportsmanship among all participants—a testament to the values that sports instill in individuals.

A total of twenty-one (21) municipalities from Palawan are slated to compete in this exciting competition, organized into four clusters, each representing distinct geographical areas:

Cluster A – Island Municipalities (Northern Palawan)
Cuyo
Agutaya
Cagayancillo
Magsaysay
Cluster B – Island Municipalities (Northern Palawan)
Coron
Culion
Busuanga
Linapacan
Cluster C – Northern Palawan (Mainland)
Araceli
Roxas
Dumaran
San Vicente
El Nido
Taytay
Cluster D – Southern Palawan (Mainland)
Aborlan
Narra
Quezon
Bataraza
Rizal
Brooke’s Point
Sofronio Española

In line with this, each cluster will have its opening program.

Cluster A will commence the festivities on November 6, followed by Cluster B on November 13, Cluster C on November 20, and Cluster D on November 21. These events are set to enhance moments of unity and sportsmanship within Palawan.

Moreover, as the tournament unfolds, the Quarter Finals, Semi-Finals, and Finals will align perfectly with the joyous Christmas celebrations at the Capitol in December. It’s a time when Palawan comes together not just to celebrate the holidays but to witness the culmination of this spirited competition.

The top teams from Clusters A and B, the leading two from Cluster C, and the top four from Cluster D will earn their place in the Quarter Finals.

This will set the stage for a thrilling battle for supremacy, with all Quarter Finals victors vying for a spot in the Semi-Finals. The final four teams in the Semi-Finals will engage in a heated contest for the Championship Game, while the rest will fight for the coveted 3rd and 4th place positions.

For those eager to participate and be part of this momentous event, the provincial government encourages you to reach out to the sports coordinator within your respective LGUs as they will provide rhe essential information needed to join this thrilling tournament and contribute to the growth of sports in Palawan.
Meanwhile, you can catch all the action live on the PIO Palawan official Facebook page.
