Tragedy struck around 7PM last night, April 26, on the National Highway of Sitio Candis, Barangay Tagusao, Quezon Palawan, as a mixer truck veered off the road and plunged into a valley, resulting in the death of passenger Leomar Belarga, a resident of Barangay Bato-Bato, Narra, Palawan.

According to initial investigations by authorities, the incident occurred as the truck, loaded with gravel and cement and driven by Ronel Esmalla from Barangay Antipuluan, Narra, Palawan, was ascending a steep portion of the road. Suddenly, the engine malfunctioned, causing the truck to reverse and fall into the valley.

Tragically, Belarga was hanging onto the side of the truck when it fell and was subsequently crushed by the vehicle.

Both Belarga and Esmalla were rushed to the hospital, but Belarga was declared dead on arrival, succumbing to the injuries he sustained in the accident.

Esmalla, meanwhile, is currently undergoing treatment at Quezon Medicare Hospital for various injuries.
