Puerto Princesa City will be having its own Chinese New Year celebration starting February 1, 2019.

This celebration is headed by the City Government of Puerto Princesa through the City Tourism Department together with the Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Puerto Princesa and Palawan. The highlight of this year’s Chinese New Year celebration will be on February 5, which is the exact date of the Chinese New Year.

“Sa February 5 magkakaroon tayo ng parade along major streets ng Puerto Princesa at abangan ng ating mga kababayan ang pagkakaroon po natin ng Chinese Cultural Performances also dragon and lion dances,” Michie H. Meneses, Senior Tourism Operation Officer, said.

Activities such as lighting of Chinese lanterns will happen during the first day of celebration, night performances, and also the opening of Chinese bazars, these activities will be held along China Town, Valencia St., Puerto Princesa City.

She also mentioned about the opening of the Chinese temple at Bgy. Sta. Lourdes, Puerto Princesa City for community visit and to pray at the temple during the whole period of the celebration.

“I would like to invite everyone to join, and participate and be part of this celebration at sana po ay pumunta kayo para po masaksihan ang iba’t-ibang mga activities na atin pong inihanda para sa celebration pong ito,” said Meneses as she invited the people of Puerto Princesa.
