In a formal ceremony attended by Rizal, Palawan Mayor Norman S. Ong and Mr. Anthony B. Lorenzo (MDRRMO Head), the Rizal Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO-RIZAL) officially attains the “Beyond Compliant” status. Bestowed by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) during the 23rd Gawad Kalasag Seal awards at Manila Hotel, Ermita, Manila.
The Gawad Kalasag Seal, particularly the “Beyond Compliant” distinction, signifies Rizal Municipality’s exceptional capability to go above and beyond in ensuring the safety and well-being of its residents.
It also recognizes the effectiveness of their disaster risk reduction and management programs, highlighting their preparedness, response, and recovery efforts.
The award, among 979 LGUs nationwide, symbolizes the community’s collective commitment and the effectiveness of Rizal’s disaster risk reduction and management initiatives. Mayor Norman S. Ong, as the Chairman of the MDRRM Council, Vice Mayor Maria Gracia M. Zapanta, and the 16th Sangguniang Bayan, who all played an important role in achieving the honor.
