The Province of Palawan is preparing for the implementation of RA 11261 or the First Time Jobseekers Assistance Act and has enjoined barangays and the Capitol to help implement it efficiently.
The new law waives the fees for all certifications and documents needed by a first-time applicant.
The groundwork for its implementation up to the provincial level was contained in three separate resolutions filed by Provincial Board Member Ryan Maminta.
Among the resolutions was the request to DILG-Palawan Director Rey Maranan to conduct orientation on all barangay units and the Provincial Public Employment Service Office or Provincial PESO on the duties and responsibilities of the Punong Barangay and PESO Officer on the implementation of RA 11261.
Maminta said that a first-time jobseeker can apply for a barangay certification at the barangay where he/she has resided for the past 6 months, certifying him/her as a first time job seeker, and from then on can avail of the provisions of RA 11261. He/she can only get the certification once.
RA 11261 is applicable for local and foreign jobs. Maminta added that the implementation of the RA 11261 will “promote full employment among Filipinos and expand government services.”
The three resolutions were immediately approved on the first and second reading.
