The Department of Science and Technology – MIMAROPA (DOST-MIMAROPA) partnered with the Provincial Science and Technology Office-Palawan (PSTO-Palawan) orchestrated an enriching School-Based Mechatronics and Robotics Training recently. This collaborative initiative aimed to empower high school students from the west coast of Palawan, igniting their creativity and honing their problem-solving skills for the rapidly evolving tech-driven landscape.
Guided by their conviction that nurturing young talents today will drive breakthroughs in various industries tomorrow, DOST-MIMAROPA facilitated an immersive training program that immersed students in the captivating realms of mechatronics and robotics. Approximately, 100 high school students participated, demonstrating their enthusiasm for delving into the intricate blend of mechanics and electronics.
The hands-on experience was facilitated through micro-electronic kits graciously provided by Khalsa Aid International. These kits became the gateway for the students to venture into the world of programming, electronics, and beyond. Witnessing the synergy between technology and innovation, participants were drawn into the captivating intricacies of science and technology.
For young minds like Hyacinth Gero, a grade 9 student from the Special Science Class at Queshie National High School, the training served as a transformative experience.
“This training has broadened my knowledge in the fields of mechatronics and robotics. It also sparked my interest in science and technology-related fields. I am grateful that I was one of the students included in this training from DOST-MIMAROPA,” Gero shared in Filipino, while reflecting on the transformative journey.
The School-Based Mechatronics and Robotics Training has paved the way for extending its benefits to a broader spectrum of schools along the west coast of Palawan.
Expanding the horizons of this vision, the participating schools are slated to enjoy a multifaceted approach to science education. DOST’s STARBOOKS initiative, aimed at making educational resources more accessible, will become an invaluable asset to these institutions.
Additionally, the ambitious youth will have the opportunity to access DOST-SEI scholarships, further fueling their academic and professional pursuits.
