PUERTO GALERA, ORIENTAL MINDORO – A Korean national drowned while snorkeling at Canyon dive site last July 29.
The victim was identified to be Gab Cheol Lee, 51 years old, married and was staying at Blue Water Dive Resort located at Barangay Sabang, Puerto Galera.
According to the police report, at around 2 in the afternoon, the victim together with the dive guide, boatman and two other Korean divers went to the dive site at Barangay Sindandigan.
Upon reaching the shore near the dive site, the victim went off the boat and told his companions that he will go snorkeling.
Thereafter, they discovered the body of the victim floating at the place where the sea current was strong.
The victim was immediately rescued by dive guide. They tried to revive him by doing CPR, but the victim had no response.
When they reached the shore at Brgy. Sabang, Dr. Wilhelmina Obaniana Arroyo also tried to revive the victim until they reached Puerto Galera Hospital, but he was pronounced dead on arrival by his attending physician Dr. Francis Carlo Concepcion.
