Some 20 boxes of gin were confiscated by Narra IATF members while conducting checkpoint at Kilometer 81, Barangay Dumanguena, Narra, Palawan around 1pm today, May 18.

According to a source, the said items were being transported via passenger van bound for Sofronio Espanola from Puerto Princesa City.

Upon passing through the checkpoint, IATF members were able to identify the said items despite being docked under the seats of a hired passenger van covered with other grocery items.

Said items are now under the custody of the Narra IAFT while waiting for the decision from the Provincial IATF while the owner is now being tracked down by authorities for further investigation.

Although the two-month liquor ban in Puerto Princesa has been lifted on May 16, city councilors have been tackling to re-implement the measure amidst reported crimes involving alcohol drinking have been recorded over the weekend.

The municipality of Narra, despite being under the General Community Quarantine status,  still implements the entire liquor ban until May 31 should there be no change in risk level.
