Palawan Electric Cooperative (PALECO) announced that it respects the right of the city government of Puerto Princesa when it filed a civil case against it.

PALECO Chairman of the Board Jeffrey Y. Tan-Endriga said during the 2nd Quarterly Press Conference of Paleco, Wednesday, June 26, that the cooperative will face the civil case.

“Kailangan po nating harapin at sagutin ito since mayroon pong fi-nile na civil case against the PALECO,” said Endriga.

The cooperative will respect the rights of the city government to file a complaint.

“We respect ‘no, everybody is entitled to this kind of action. We believe that this action coming from the city government is in their side naman ay karapatan nila ‘yun. But in our side naman kelangan rin natin ipakita at ipaalam sa husgado kung ano ba talaga ang nangyari, ano ba talaga ang sumasaklaw sa atin upang masagot natin,” the chairman explained.

“We have to respect that case, to me, that’s really normal,” said Acting General Manager Engr. Nelson Lalas.

Led by Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron, the city government filed a civil case before the Regional Trial Court (RTC) in Sta. Monica on the 24th of June mandating PALECO to take actions on the power interruptions in the city.

According to Engr. Lalas, PALECO is doing its best to address the power interruptions.

“Kami rin po talag ay wala po hinto kami sa pagasikaso na to reduce these power interruptions that we experience,” Lalas added.

The cooperative is now working with the legal procedures to answer the case.

“Yesterday, we already talked to our legal council para at least masagot itong kaso na ito,” the chairman added.
