Out of thousands of nominees, 5 lucky winners were chosen on the eighth year of Cebu Pacific’s Juan For Fun 2019 that aims to cultivate a deeper appreciation for the country.
18-year-old Jeric Cabanillas of Palawan State University, and also a founder of NGO “Teen Goals” which aims to help less-fortunate children in Puerto Princesa, is set to travel with 2 of his best friends and together with 4 other groups from different regions.
During the send-off ceremony at Dusit Thani Mactan Cebu, Jeric shared that this is not his first time to join the competition. In last year’s Juan For Fun 2018 he managed to get to the top 20 yet he needed to withdraw due to a mistake in his birth certificate.
“Last year po nakita ko yung advertisement ng Cebu Pacific sinubukan kung sumali luckily napili ako as one of the top 20 and during the submission of my requirements, nagulat ako ng makita ko yung birth certificate ko na merong conflict which is under age pa ako sa aking birth certificate kaya pina-forfeit ko yung entry ko,” Jeric said.
“Then ngayong taon hindi ako mapipigil na hindi ako makapag-join ulit with full hope of determination na makapasok, hindi naman tayo nabigo makapasok to represent Puerto Princesa City this Juan For Fun 2019,” Jeric added.
On the other hand, the winners were also mentored by Becoming Filipino’s Kyle ‘Kulas’ Jennermann shared about his experiences on learning through travel; TV host and social media personality Joyce Pring; celebrity and vlogger Mikael Daez talked about eating your way through travel and Travel Writer Jude Becalso about preserving Filipino heritage.
