The Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) vows to continue supporting the scholarship program that will benefit petroleum engineering faculty of the Palawan State University undergoing graduate studies in Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) in Perak, Malaysia.
This was confirmed by Dr. Josette T. Biyo, SEI Director, during her speech in the recent graduation rites of Palawan State University, last Friday, April 5.
“Indeed a great honor for us to be supporting your University. And this year, we have promised to send another batch of MS and PhD scholars in Petronas [Malaysia], because it is our vision in the near future, Palawan State University will open graduate program in Petroleum Engineering. And that will be part of history because you will be the first and the only University [in the Philippines] that will offer graduate programs in Petroleum Engineering,” Dr. Biyo said.
Last November 18, 2018, six DOST-SEI scholars earned their degree in Master of Science in Petroleum Engineering in UTP.
The scholars are faculty members from the PSU and the Batangas State University (BSU) that are offering Petroleum Engineering undergraduate degree. They are Engr. Carlo Feria, Engr. Ron Chuck Gabayan, Engr. Lexyber Manalo, Engr. Jayson Santos and Engr. Morlie Talimbay from PSU and Engr. Kevin de Castro from the BSU.
