MARINA continues mobile registration for boats

Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA)-Palawan continued conducting its mobile registration of seagoing vessels in Palawan.

Engr. Petronilo Roche, Officer In-Charge of Maritime Industry Authority (Marina)- Palawan, shared that the mobile registration in far-flung areas in Palawan is being pushed through because their target is to achieve zero colorum operators as well as they want to get the crew trained and the licensed to enhance maritime safety.

“Pinupuntahan namin ang mga areas para ma-legalize ang kanilang [banka] especially sa mga crew wala pa silang boat captain license. So ang nangyayari kami mismo sa MARINA ang pumupunta sa mga areas para mag conduct ng modified safety and basic training na ina-allow para sa mga vessel na 35 GT (Gross Tonnage) above,” Roche said in the Kapehan by the Philippine Information Agency where he was invited as June is the Sea Transportation Month.

Last March 25 – 29, mobile registrations were done in Balabac, Palawan. MARINA processed 265 Boat Captains, 141 Motormen, 300 SIB (Seafarers Identifiation Book) and 306 MBST (Modified Safety Basic Training) and in Salvacion, Busuanga last May 26-28, it had 99 applicants of MBST, 99 were issued SIBs, 93 Boat Captains and 39 Motormen.

As of today June 20, 2019 the number of registered vessels are: Liner – 38 (Balabac -15, PPC – 3, Roxas – 5, Cagayan -4, Cuyo – 4, Dumaran – 7) Fishing – 449 Cargo – 144 Passenger (Tourist Boat) – 1,992 Vessels

• Busuanga – 144

• Port Barton & San Vicente – 163

• Honda Bay – 156

• Culion – 82

• Sabang – 91

• Linapacan – 70

• Taytay – 53

•Balabac -14

•Cuyo – 4
