As the saying goes, “You can’t keep a good woman down.” This best describes Miss Genny Schön Gonzales, who is the owner of G Skin Laser & Medical Aesthetics.

She looked vibrant, confident, and full of life as she faced Palawan Daily News.

But like any success worth celebrating, the road she traversed before reaching the pinnacle was dark, bumpy, and full of challenges. There were obstacles left and right.

“I needed to be strong for myself and my children. I needed to pick up the broken pieces which they took away from me. After all, I am the only one who will truly bring myself up. I’m not a bad person nor a criminal. I’m a simple woman who only wants the best for my children since their father left us with nothing.”

Miss Genny struggled to raise four children on her own while trying to make a decent living to feed her family. A nurse by profession, she tried her hand in producing concerts and almost got to airing a travel show over ABS-CBN.

That was until Genny produced a concert by pop singer Sarah Geronimo here in Palawan, which succeeded in a way that it pushed through eventhough the investments on both sides—-producer and co-producer—-failed to have any profit. It was a risk of “double or nothing” for both parties, which were all signed in paper.

She then tried to regain what she lost through a travel show she produced with her best friend Mr. World, National and International TV and pageant host, Andrew Wolff.Yes, there were hindrances along the way—-like people taking advantage of her, using her project to gain income for themselves—-but as it was starting to go smooth-sailing, they still ruined and maligned her. Threats came that they would take these talks before the public. True enough, a smear campaign against her was fired on social media.

And Genny eventually lost everything: Her travel show, her reputation, her finances, everything she had carefully built for years was gone in a blink.

Depressed and out of money, she landed in a hospital where she couldn’t even stay for more 24 hours as she couldn’t afford it.

She was also forced to take her children off school. Her children then resorted to working at Dang Maria’s to survive, while Genny tended a small vegetable garden at her yard just so she could have something to eat.

Little by little, however, Genny picked up the pieces of her life, and started organizing small events again until she came to establish G Skin Laser & Medical Aesthetics single-handedly.

Genny credits her success to her friend Jane Timbancaya-Urbanek, who, according to her, was her confidante, mentor and a friend who held her during trying times.

“Kung wala si Tita Jane, hindi ko alam kung nakayanan ko,” she said.

“Above all, I thank my dad for being there every step of the way. Mahal na mahal ko ang daddy ko. And of course I thank the Lord for everything. And I know for a fact that He would not give me challenges I can’t overcome. Everything that happened to me was an experience God wanted me to learn from.”

That’s why G Skin is much more than a skin clinic that aims to be a one-stop shop for beauty and wellness. It is a product of failure, blood, sweat, tears, hard work, and wisdom.

G Skin Laser & Medical Aesthetics offers a wide range of skincare and aesthetic services like facial, mesotherapy, cryotherapy, thread lifting, and high-intensity focused ultrasound therapy.

Genny also plans to open a Himalayan spa in the skin clinic, where guests will experience the wonders of Himalayan pink salt.

G Skin Laser & Medical Aesthetics is located at the Ground Floor of Citystate Asturias Hotel, South National Highway, Puerto Princesa City, with their grand opening on September 28.

Truly, Genny’s story proves that you can’t put a good woman down.
