“These are initial intervention to the fishermen in Paluan, Occidental Mindoro affected just recently by Typhoon Quiel,” Salilig said.

To recall, Paluan, Occidental Mindoro was among those badly hit by Typhoon Quiel, particularly the coastal communities when several houses were destroyed after a 5-meter high strong waves supposedly caused by Typhoon Quiel hit coastal villages of Paluan on November 8, 2019.

The municipality of Paluan is looking at the possibility of declaring a state of calamity on Monday after destruction and damage caused by the tidal wave. Some 26 houses were destroyed while 50 others were damaged. The houses are located in 10 affected coastal barangays.

Aside from the totally and partially damaged houses, 58 small boats were also damaged by big waves.

Salilig said that Senator Christopher “Bong” Go attended the turnover ceremony. Also present were Governor Eduardo Gadiano, Vice-Governor Peter Alfaro, Mayor Carl Michael Pangilinan and other government agencies.
